Gene became enamored with acting and “The Industry” while living in California. He found that he could sniff out a camera within a five-mile radius. After his family moved back to Texas, his goal was always to return to Los Angeles, but after settling down and raising a family, he put theater on hold because of the commitment involved. However, after the kids grew up and moved away, he decided to step out of the closet again and auditioned for a show at the Maverick Theater. He got the part and was hooked again. That first year, he participated in 6 different shows at the Maverick, MCT, and the Globe Theater…something he knew would happen. Presently, he chooses a couple of shows per year to be involved in, also limiting his back stage work because he says “If I am going to drive a nail, it will be in the house.”
