Rockin' With Dokken & Great White!

On Thursday, March 4th West Texas will rock!  Big Mic Presents legendary 80’s rock bands, Dokken and Great White at the Midland County Horseshoe Arena.  Advance tickets go on sale February 2 at Liquid Audio and N-Tune Music in Midland and Endless Horizons, CD Warehouse and N-Tune Music in Odessa and will only be available for advance purchase thru February 28, so hurry and get your tickets now!  Bleacher seats are $30 in advance and floor tickets are $35 in advance.

As the 80’s were reaching the maximum overload of talentless, hairspray-driven, bull$#*% glam rock bands like Faster Pussycat, Britny Fox, Poison, and L.A. Guns... Dokken emerged out of the transvestite-laiden musical cesspool to redeem the sanctity of rock and roll with REAL vocals and REAL guitar playing!  Even though Dokken released Breaking The Chains in 1983, the world didn’t really catch on until 1984’s Tooth And Nail, which included Just Got Lucky, Into The Fire, and – every chick’s favorite – Alone Again.  However, the band’s popularity really exploded in 1985 with the release of Under Lock And Key, which gave birth to the hits Unchain The Night, In My Dreams, It’s Not Love, and Lightening Strikes Again.  Back in the day, I didn’t know ANYONE who didn’t have the Under Lock And Key cassette!  (Yeah kids, long before the CD was invented, music came in the form of a cassette tape ... google it!)

The only bad news about the Dokken revival is that George Lynch has yet to return to the band.  I mean, if you know anything about rock and roll then you know that Lynch is one incredibly bad ass guitar player!  But fear not, my friends.  Jon Levin, (George Lynch’s replacement), is no slouch by any means!  Remember the band Warlock, with the super foxy singer, Doro Pesch?  Well, Jon Levin was the guitarist of that band in case you were wondering where he came from. But after all, the band IS called Dokken ... not Lynch.
Sharing the headlining position with Dokken is another 80’s favorite, Great White.  Formed in 1981, the band released the albums Great White and Stick It in 1984, as well as Shot In The Dark in ‘86, before garnering any substantial mainstream success – which didn’t come until 1987 with the release of Once Bitten..., and the “you can’t hide from ‘em” hits, Rock Me and Save Your Love.  If you owned any form of radio, you probably knew both of those songs by heart!  Great White once again invaded the airwaves in 1989 with their double platinum album, ...Twice Shy, which included the Grammy nominated maga hit Once Bitten Twice Shy, as well as the bluesy ballad House Of Broken Love.  However, despite all of their hits and the millions of albums they’ve sold, Great White nowadays seems to be best known for that whole pyrotechnics debacle in Rhode Island.  That’s gotta be a bummer!  You do a thousand things right, but you’re remembered for that one screw up!

Speaking of fire... don’t be scared kids!  I’m pretty sure there won’t be any pyro at this show.  But even if there is, and IF a fire breaks out, the Horseshoe Arena is a mighty big place with plenty of exits!  No worries.

Opening the concert, is local rock band, Loudfinger.  “We chose Loudfinger as the opener because they have a solid set of original rock music that pairs perfectly with Dokken and Great White. Keep a watch on these guys. We’ll blink and they’ll be big – they are that good!”, said Ronn Reeger, Founder of Big Mic Presents and Partner at Promising Projects. Read more about Loudfinger on page 5.

“Dokken and Great White are going to blow the roof off....with their music, of course!  No pyro at this show!  Both of these bands bring back a sense of nostalgia for many and even those younger gen’s always plow for a good rock show”, said Lisa Grissom of Promising Projects.  For more info on VIP and block ticketing, call Promising Projects office at 432.618.0705.
